Take a virtual tour of the Mission Center Thrift Store, hosted by Ruslyn Case-Compton, Secretary for Social Services for the Diocese of Lexington.

The Mission Center is looking to replace its worn box truck with a newer, more fuel-efficient model.  We looking at purchasing a Kenniworth 1450.  The only hitch is, we need $14,500 to complete the purchase.

Hello,

If anyone needs clothes we have truck loads. If your group or church is in need just let us know. We are still in need of a fork lift. Also furniture, building materials and household items are in demand. With warmer weather approaching we could use drinks mainly water for our workers and volunteers. We have 3 semi truck loads of drywall just in.

Thanks and God Bless,

Larry Britt

I have never had so many requests for housing.  People are without.  They are put out of their house.  Others are have their trailers burn down.  I started the Point of Hope with six families; I now have 15.  They are in our volunteer quarters; some are in our old office space.  Just today I fixed up the trailer in Inez that I spoke to you about in my last letter.  A family of 3 moves in this evening.

I feel like the inn keeper at Bethlehem who ran out of space and could give Joseph only a cave to live in.  Please help me find ways to give these families shelter and warmth.

Sometimes I think the best good I do for folks is to give them housing, food, clothing etc, but yesterday I got a letter from a man who is doing time for his crime.  He had asked me to write to him which I did.  Last night I read his response.  I thought you would like to read the letter.

 “Dear Monsignor Beiting,

I knew that a man like you who cares for and shepherds so many would take the time to write me back, though at the same time I didn’t allow myself to expect it.  That much greater the blessing it was when I received it this Wednesday morning lying on my bunk not expecting anything.  A great blessing indeed as it stirred my soul and touched my heart that having reached out in such a seemingly small way God’s purpose of love and brotherhood is accomplished.

I know it may seem a lot to say about just a letter, but then where would we be if the Saints Paul or Peter etc had not put pen to paper (or parchment).  Anyway I just wanted you to know that it meant so much and that I am proud to be a brother and servant of yourself and of the Lord Jesus Christ to whom I commit my soul for the good, amen.  I hope this letter will impart to you the same spirit of love that yours did to me and may we walk in said same forever.

 Yours Truly and Prayerfully

 Brian Hall”
